I didn't have enough money for the cab, so I jumped off the cab and knocked on the back doors of the security guard who stared at me as if I am a robber wanting to be let in.
The fist phrase I muttered was if he had any money, to which he hesitated before asking how much. I asked for $10 and he asked if $100 was fine. Sure! And hence I took the money to pay off the cab driver.
Embarassed by the entire spectacle, I hurried home to look for $10 to repay the guard... but that was no mean feat either given that I don't store spare cash at home.... shitz... but thankfully i found $10 worth of coins and another $20 stuffed in the side pockets of a small handbag, lost and forgotten.
After returning the money to him, we chatted a little and realised that he too, was borned in Singapore ! However, he moved to Hainan, China before coming to Hong Kong.
So of course, I asked if he's Hainanese and he affirmed my guess. What are the chances I meet a fellow Singaporean and what are the chances he's a fellow Hainanese? If not for the lack of money, I guess I wouldn't have known that with the mere hellos we uttered when we see him on night shifts.
Today, I was sick and down with bad cold. Didn't sleep the whole night. So before my trip to the doctor, I decided to get a massage as my back was aching and I was suffering from a back sprain yesterday from sweeping the floor. Incidentally, met this masseus who happened to be an Indonesian Chinese with much of her family in Singapore and she was Hokkien. What are the chances ?
